Connecting green ideas – Berlin, London, Helsinki & Dublin

H2 Compliance is proud to be an official partner of the Green Alley Award 2017, Europe’s first start-up competition aimed at Circular Economy innovators and entrepreneurs. The Berlin based company Green Alley, together with Germany’s crowdfunding pioneer Seedmatch and the London Accelerator programme Bethnal Green Ventures, have been hosting the start-up competition since 2014. They are in search of innovative business ideas which develop Circular Economy business models and are calling on young entrepreneurs and start-ups to apply for the European Green Alley Award open until the 27th July 2017.

Grant Kinsman, CEO of H2 Compliance says “We are approaching a time in which we cannot sustain or increase well-being in societies through the mass production of more and more goods. The premise of consumption in a circular economy is the use of services instead of owning things. Materials are not destroyed at the end of their useful life, but are used to make new products again and again.”

To be a successful participant in the Green Alley Award, the start-ups business model should: –

• Deal with a product, service or technology to help avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle or transform waste

• Reduces the impact of chemicals or utilises safer alternatives
• Revolutionises the management of resources
In 2014, the Green Alley Award focussed on Berlin. In 2015, it was London and last year Helsinki. Green Alley successfully tapped into the start-up scene in all locations and highlighted its vibrancy. This year this focus is on Dublin and Ireland where the start-up scene is also very vibrant. “Ireland has some of the best incubator and accelerator programmes in Europe. There are many excellent reasons new start-up businesses are locating in Dublin, from our favourable low tax regime and supportive environment for start-ups, to the availability of well-educated workforce, Dublin is the place to be. Ireland has already attracted a huge level of foreign direct investment, particularly from the USA. Thousands of American companies have chosen Ireland because of its pro-business environment.” says Grant Kinsman.
H2 Compliance, together with an international committee will assess all the applications and nominate the Green Alley Award 2017 finalists. Six finalists will be invited to a one-day event in Berlin where they will take part in workshops run by experts in the Circular Economy and gain valuable knowledge to potentially help improve their business plan.
The six finalists will then have the opportunity to pitch their business idea to an international jury and audience consisting of representatives from press, start-ups, businesses and investors. The most convincing pitch will win the Green Alley Award 2017 along with a prize worth up to €30,000.
